Four games that need no installer
for the nights the ice is being flooded

A sheet takes hours to flood and pebble, and the club is shut while it happens. These four free-to-play games fill those evenings honestly: not one asks for an installer, a launcher or a patch, so you open a tab, register, and you are playing within a minute. Between them you get a space war that ends and starts again, a hockey club to run with a game every day, a factory you can start with no account at all, and a manager that covers four sports from one login.

01 · Round-based space war

Planetarion

A round-based war game of about two months, five races and a great deal of alliance negotiation. Because every round ends, a newcomer arrives at a genuine fresh start rather than at the bottom of a decade-old ladder, which in this genre is rarer than it sounds.

Good for
Anyone tired of joining games a decade late.
Typical session
An hour most evenings

Cost
Free to play; optional in-game purchases.
Your first session
  1. Join at the start of a round, not halfway through.
  2. Pick an alliance before picking a strategy; they will tell you the strategy.
  3. Scout before committing a fleet, every single time.

Hockey Arena key art
02 · Hockey manager

Hockey Arena

An ice-hockey management game with a daily match and an unrestricted free-agent system, so a squad can be rebuilt quickly if you are paying attention. The interface stays deliberately plain, which keeps a visit down to minutes.

Good for
Managers who want a short daily routine with real consequences.
Typical session
Ten minutes a day

Your first session
  1. Set training before worrying about signings.
  2. Watch the free-agent list daily; the good ones go in hours.
  3. Keep the wage bill under the gate money, which is easy to forget.

Industry Idle key art
03 · Factory tycoon

Industry Idle

The quickest way onto this shelf: no account, no registration, just tiles to lay down and resources to route between them until the lines stop starving. Depth arrives later, when the global market turns your tidy factory into a question about what is worth making at all.

Good for
Anyone who wants to be building within a minute of arriving.
Typical session
Ten minutes to set the lines

Cost
Free to play; optional in-game purchases.
Your first session
  1. Match production rates before expanding; a starved line earns nothing.
  2. Check the market before committing a new product chain.
  3. Leave room between clusters, because routing gets ugly fast.

PowerPlay Manager key art
04 · Multi-sport manager

PowerPlay Manager

Hockey, football, handball and basketball run from one account, with line-ups and tactics set against human managers, individual practice plans and club facilities to upgrade. Taking all four at once is possible and not advisable.

Good for
Managers who want more than one sport from a single login.
Typical session
Fifteen minutes a day

Cost

Your first session
  1. Take one sport for the first season; four at once is how people quit.
  2. Set individual practice rather than leaving the defaults.
  3. Upgrade facilities before squad depth, because they compound.

What no download actually means

Nothing is installed. All four run inside the browser already on the machine, which is why a borrowed laptop or a locked-down work computer is usually no obstacle at all.

Each studio keeps a shop inside its own game, selling premium currency, ornaments and timer skips. None of it is needed to play properly. Where a computer is shared with children, set the spending controls on the studio account before handing it over.

The first quarter of an hour

Follow the link under any game and the studio’s own site opens in a fresh tab. Register there, usually with an email address and a password, and the world loads a moment later. The factory tycoon skips even that.

Give the opening tutorial your attention on that first visit. The managers in particular introduce training, tactics and finances in a deliberate order, and skipping ahead means relearning it clumsily a week later.

Fitting one around a working day

All four keep their own time. Fleets fly, matches are played and production lines run whether the tab is open or not, which makes one short visit a day a perfectly respectable way to play.

Save the real decisions — a fleet commitment, a squad rebuild, a new product chain — for an evening when you are not watching the clock.

Looking after four separate logins

Every account belongs to its own studio and never to us, so type the password only on that studio’s own pages. Give each game its own password and switch on any second sign-in step offered.

No real member of a support team will ever ask for a password in a game chat, a forum reply or an email. Anyone promising free premium currency for a login is after the account itself.

Why these four stay in the bookmarks bar

  • Not one of them has an installer or a launcher. The browser already on the machine is the whole requirement.
  • Registering is free everywhere, and the factory tycoon does not even ask for that; the shops inside sell shortcuts and ornament, never entry.
  • All four keep running with the tab shut, so a five-minute look still moves something along.
  • Each has been going for years under a studio that still updates it, and there are people online at most hours.

None at all. All four open in an ordinary desktop browser and start the moment you have registered, with no launcher and no patching to sit through.

No. Registering and playing are free in every case, and each shop holds optional extras rather than anything that gates the game itself.

They are not. Four separate studios build and run them, and our buttons simply open each official site so you can register there.

No, and one of them needs no login at all. Expect three registrations and three passwords.

Hockey Arena and Industry Idle each publish a phone app besides the browser build. Planetarion and PowerPlay Manager name no app at all and would rather you brought a keyboard.

Industry Idle, because it asks for nothing whatever. Hockey Arena if you would rather run a club than a factory.

In all four, yes. Fleets fly, matches are played and production keeps running regardless, which is why a look in once a day keeps you level in every one of them.
